Business trip to Japan

On March 6 - 13, 2006 Business Excellence Benchmarking Club in cooperation with the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) organized a business trip to Japan.
The Russian delegation which consisted of Yu.P. Voloshin, Minister of Industry and Energy of the Republic of Chuvashiya, general directors of several enterprises, operation managers, and a head of university got familiar with quality management and labor organization practices in the Japanese automotive industry. During the trip they visited Toyota subsidiaries using the Total Quality Management (TQM) approach in their work: Hino Motors Ltd. (truck and bus manufacturer), Aisin Seiki (brake system manufacturer), and Toyota Motor Co. Motomachi Plant . This was the second experience exchange trip abroad organized by Business Excellence Benchmarking Club.

First steps of Kids' ISO 14000 project

In the context of the launch of Kids' ISO 14000 program in Russia the first program seminar was held in Cheboksary on February 17, 2006. It brought together heads of university departments responsible for quality issues and directors of secondary schools of Chuvashia Republic. Among the participants of the seminar was Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic. This same day the first introduction lesson of Kids' ISO 14000 was held for 5 grade pupils of Cheboksary school No.56. The lesson was conducted by Yuri Samoilov, Vice President of Business Excellence Benchmarking Club. After the lesson pupils were presented colorful program booklets.

20 Keys launch in Chuvashiya

On February 16, 2006 under the contract signed by and between Business Excellence Benchmarking Club and the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Republic of Chuvashiya, the first 20 Keys seminar was held in Cheboksary.
Joint events organized by the club and the Ministry have already become a tradition in the region, and Chuvashia enterprises and organizations constantly show heightened interest in them. This time directors of over 30 regional enterprises participated in the seminar. The seminar was chaired by Yuri Samoilov, Vice President of Business Excellence Benchmarking Club. Every participant got Standards and Quality journal containing materials concerning the seminar issues, and could learn more about the program.
The Cheboksary seminar was another evidence of a vivid interest in modern methods of quality management both from regional authorities and businesses.
Business Excellence Benchmarking Club is an exclusive licensee for 20 Keys program expansion in Russia striving for its implementation in every possible way and rendering any practical and methodological support to anyone who wish to apply selective 'program keys' or the system as a whole to achieve high level of quality in manufacturing and service sector.

A new member of the Benchmarking Club

On February 15 at its regular session the Board of Business Excellence Benchmarking Club considered the application of Saratovstroisteklo OJSC to enter the Benchmarking Club.
Saratovstroisteklo OJSC was established in March 2000 on the basis of Saratov Industrial Glass Factory. The company specializes in manufacturing and sales of sheet glass. The company mission is to meet quality standards in glass manufacturing by means of advanced technologies and modern industrial management methods. In-depth understanding of market demands and the wish to maximally meet them enabled the company to establish a long-term cooperation with the customers and supply sheet glass both to domestic and international customers. Today the glass manufactured in Saratov is supplied to over 20 countries of the world, including Italy, Germany, Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria. The main objective of becoming a member of the Benchmarking Club is continuous improvement of methods of the company’s operating activity, productivity increase, and supply of products meeting the customers' demands. All current members of the club approved Saratovstroisteklo membership in Business Excellence Benchmarking Club.

The next Global Benchmarking Network Conference to be held in Moscow...

At the recent 14th conference of GBN national partners Yuri Samoilov, Vice President of Business Excellence Benchmarking Club, on behalf of the Russian delegation proposed to hold the next 15th conference in Moscow.
The conference is scheduled on next September and can coincide with the 2nd Russian Benchmarking Conference which is planned to be held on September 5, 2006 in Moscow. The participants approved and gratefully accepted the proposal of Russian delegation. Moreover, Russian participants put forward the idea of organizing the first International Benchmarking Conference in which the largest global companies could participate, including Xerox which was the first to use benchmarking method to improve its competitiveness in the global market. This kind of event could rank high GBN as a competent international organization integrating numerous countries into a single benchmarking network. It was also stressed that the first International Benchmarking Conference could be held in Moscow at the same time with the Russian Benchmarking Conference and the 15th conference of GBN national partners.

Joint fight against counterfeiting

On September 8, 2005 negotiations took place between N.G. Tomson, Business Excellence Benchmarking Club President, Yu.N. Samoilov, Vice President of the Club and Executive Director of the Russian Organization for Quality (ROQ) Secretariat, and O.O. Kulish, Executive Director of Russia against Counterfeiting national program. The meeting took place in Alexander House business center. The parties exchanged their view on the problem of selling counterfeiting merchandise in Russia. This problem has been actively highlighted by RIA Standards and Quality. For example, the problem of market protection from counterfeited and adulterated products was a special focus of the fifth issue of Partners and Competitors journal published jointly by Business Excellence department of the Russian Organization for Quality and the State Duma Parliamentary Club. These issues are constantly highlighted in Partners and Competitors forum of the ROQ official Internet portal. At the negotiations N.G. Tomson, Business Excellence Benchmarking Club President, became the member of the Russia against Counterfeiting national program press-center, and Yu.N. Samoilov, Vice President of the Club and Executive Director of the Russian Organization for Quality (ROQ) Secretariat - the member of the expert council of the program. The parties agreed to continue active cooperation in other fields of mutual interest, especially concerning improvement of life quality and fight against counterfeiting in Russia, where Business Excellence Russian Benchmarking Club is a leader in exchanging experiences and best practices in this field.
